Getting started

What is JobVega?

JobVega’s AI screens every new job at hundreds of employers against your résumé, grades the ones that could fit requirement by requirement, and shows you a ranked shortlist of the roles you fit best. It does all of this on its own, for every new job. It also researches every employer it watches, and it works with your own AI assistant. When a fully analyzed job clears your bar, it emails you.

Who is it for?

Two kinds of people. Those who need a job soon and want to spend their time on applications that can land. And those who have a job but would move for the right role, and don’t want to miss it.

Which jobs does it cover?

During the closed beta, every opening at about 300 employers with locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, across every function: engineering, product, sales, marketing, finance, HR, legal, operations and more. US Remote roles are also included. Most are tech companies, but the list also includes large employers in healthcare, retail and other industries. More metro areas will follow.

Where does the company research come from?

JobVega’s AI researches every employer it watches from public sources, such as the employer’s own careers and benefits pages. Policies describe what new hires in the US get, and they change, so confirm the details with the employer before you decide.

How fresh are the jobs?

JobVega checks employers’ own career sites at least daily, so new roles usually reach you early enough to apply on the day they’re posted.

What do I need to get started?

The résumé you already have, as a PDF or Word file. JobVega’s AI reads it, and you check what it read. Then a few preferences: where and how you want to work, and the lowest pay you’d take. Setup takes about ten minutes, and your first scores arrive within about five minutes after that. There’s no profile to build.

Is it only for tech jobs?

No. It covers every function at the employers it watches. A recruiter, a controller or a paralegal gets the same depth of analysis as a software engineer.

The grading

How does the grading work?

In two passes. First, JobVega’s AI screens every new job: jobs whose posted pay is below your minimum, that sit at the wrong career level, or that are outside the area you’re willing to work in are set aside, and the rest get a quick read against your résumé. Jobs that could plausibly fit then get the full analysis, automatically. Each posting is broken into its requirements, split into must-haves and nice-to-haves. Each requirement is graded against your résumé on a five-step scale, from fully met to not met, with a one-line reason. The grades roll up into a fit score, and must-haves count more than nice-to-haves.

Why doesn’t every job get the full analysis?

Because most new jobs at any employer have nothing to do with you. A fast first pass sets those aside, so the careful, requirement-by-requirement read goes to the jobs that could fit. The first pass is tested against full analyses and tuned to let through nearly every job the full analysis would rate a good fit.

How is that different from keyword matching?

Keyword matching checks whether a word appears on your résumé. JobVega checks whether you have the experience the job asks for, at the level and in the field it asks about. “Five years of B2B SaaS pricing” needs exactly that, not just the word “pricing.”

How accurate is it?

Every change to the grading is tested before it ships, against reference grades for real jobs and résumés, with a person reviewing the hard cases. The first pass is tested the same way, to make sure it keeps nearly all the good fits.

Can it be wrong?

Yes. It reads a job and a résumé the way a careful recruiter would, and résumés leave things out. That’s why every grade shows its reason. If something you’ve done isn’t on your résumé, you’ll see exactly where it mattered. And, rarely, the first pass may set aside a job that would have scored well.

Applying

Does JobVega apply to jobs for me?

Not today. You decide where to apply, and nothing is sent in your name unless you ask. JobVega never makes up answers on your behalf.

Will it rewrite my résumé?

JobVega itself doesn’t. Each analysis shows which requirements you meet strongly and which are a stretch, which tells you what to emphasize. If you connect your own AI assistant, it can use that analysis to tailor your résumé to the job. You review every word, and you decide what goes out.

Privacy

Will my employer find out I’m looking?

No. There’s no public profile and no “open to work” badge. JobVega doesn’t share your résumé or your activity with any employer, including your current one, unless you ask it to.

What happens to my résumé?

It’s stored securely and used for two things: grading jobs for you, and training and improving the models that power JobVega, which are used only for JobVega. To do the grading, your résumé is sent to our AI providers through their paid business services, whose terms don’t allow them to use it to train their models. It’s never sold, and it goes to employers or recruiters only if you ask. If you connect your own AI assistant, it receives what you let it see. Delete your account, and your résumé and everything else in it are deleted within 30 days.

Do you use my data to train AI?

Only JobVega’s own models, never anyone else’s. We learn from résumés, results and activity to make the grading more accurate for everyone, and that applies to every account. Our AI providers don’t train on your data. Delete your account, and your data is removed from our training data too.

Does JobVega screen candidates for employers?

No. It works the other way around: it ranks jobs for you. No one can pay to change your fit scores.

Your AI assistant

Can I use JobVega with my AI assistant?

Yes, and we want you to. Many job sites block AI agents. JobVega has a connector built on MCP, the open standard AI assistants use to work with apps. Connect your assistant, and it can brief you on new matches, compare jobs, tailor your résumé to one, or help you prepare for an interview, all from your own JobVega data.

Which assistants work?

Claude, ChatGPT, OpenClaw and GitHub Copilot in VS Code, and other assistants that support MCP connectors. Some assistants offer connectors only on certain plans. You connect one from your JobVega Profile in a few minutes.

What can my assistant see and do?

What you can see: your résumé, your preferences, your matches and their analyses, and the companies behind them. You choose whether it can only read, or also make changes, like saving a job, marking one applied or starting an analysis. Most assistants ask you before they change anything. It never sees anyone else’s data, and it never applies or contacts employers for you. Fair-use limits keep JobVega fast for everyone.

Is my data safe with a connected assistant?

JobVega gives an assistant only what you let it see, and you can remove it on your Profile at any time, which ends its access at once. What the assistant does with that data follows its provider’s terms and your settings there, so connect only assistants you trust.

Alerts, beta and cost

How do email alerts work?

You choose how strong a fit a role needs before you hear about it, and you can narrow alerts further by location, minimum pay and career level. Alerts are based on the full analysis, not the quick first pass: a newly posted job is emailed to you only after it has been graded requirement by requirement and its fit score clears that bar. The email links to that analysis. If nothing new clears it, you don’t hear from us. Change the bar anytime.

What does it cost?

Nothing during the closed beta. If that changes afterwards, beta users will hear about it well in advance.

Why start with the San Francisco Bay Area?

Depth before breadth. Screening every opening at the employers in one region properly beats skimming a little of everywhere. More metro areas will follow, starting with Seattle.

How do I join?

The waitlist for the extended beta opens soon. Check the Join the beta page; we’ll open it there. Already invited? Use Login at the top of the page.

Why the name?

For decades, astronomers measured the brightness of every other star against Vega. It was their reference point. JobVega does the same with jobs: every opening, measured against one reference, your résumé. The name itself comes from the Arabic for “the landing eagle.” And in East Asian legend, Vega is the Weaver Girl, who crosses the Milky Way once a year to meet the one she’s meant to find. We liked all of that.
